Two down, five to go for 'Narnia' films?

If Prince Caspian delivers the same sort of box-office magic as The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (a reported $738 million worldwide), then we can count on Disney following through with plans to make movies based on all seven of C.S. Lewis' books. What's on tap next:

Voyage of the Dawn Treader

* The story: Lucy and Edmund Pevensie and their cousin, Eustace Scrubb, are pulled back into Narnia, where they accompany King Caspian as he scours the sea for the seven loyal but lost Telmarine lords who have been banished. In a special-effects smorgasbord, they'll visit fantastic places like Lone Islands, Deathwater Island and the Island Where Dreams Come True on their way to the world's end, where a giant wall of water guards the entrance to Aslan's Country.

* Who's back? Michael Apted (Gorillas in the Mist, Amazing Grace) will replace Andrew Adamson as director and William Moseley and Anna Popplewell likely will not return as the elder Pevensie children, since they don't appear in the Voyage book.

* When will we see it? Originally set to be released in May 2009, the release date has since been pushed back to May 7, 2010. The film is scheduled to start shooting in November 2008 in Mexico.

The Silver Chair

* The story: Aslan calls Eustace back to Narnia with his classmate Jill Pole, and they're given four clues to find Prince Rilian, Caspian's son, who had been kidnapped 10 years earlier.

* Who's back? Presumably none of the Pevensie children, since they don't appear in The Silver Chair. Also, Disney hasn't announced who'll helm the project. "We don't have a director for that, but we will soon enough," producer Mark Johnson told comingsoon.net. "Let's see how this movie does."

* When will we see it? Who knows? The film isn't officially greenlit and recent comments (such as Johnson's "let's see how this movie does") have led some observers to wonder whether Disney intends to adapt all seven books. While Disney was originally pushing to release Narnia films roughly one year apart, that plan has already been altered.
