Avalanche hanging in playoff hunt despite up/down season

Despite a losing record, injuries to Joe Sakic and Adam Foote, and the 14th-worst offense in the 15-team Western Conference, the Avalanche remains very much in the hunt for a playoff berth, only two points removed from the eighth and final postseason position.
